Misplaced Passions

It’s a panel discussion. The up-and-coming CEO of an up-and-coming firm swipes away his Iphone and declares to the audience, ‘An idea is the new capital. India is fast moving towards becoming a knowledge economy’ He turns his head to the SEBI Chairman and notes further ‘ We could do with innovative capital-raising schemes such as crowdfunding, the way indiegogo is right now helping us’
Applause. Cheers.
The panel discussion had begun 30 minutes ago and this guy was the lone speaker.
SEBI Chairman smiles and looks at the guy with feigned interest ‘I accept all that you’ve said. It’s noteworthy. However, on the other side, we have to look at people who could misuse such a platform. A guy who had successfully ‘crowd-funded’ from over 15000 people recently is right now in Tihar Jail’
Laughs. Giggles.
The journo in front of me doodles the pic of our host for the event. She’s wearing a saree, giving us a generous view of her navel.

We are all doodling.
